Quick & Healthy Breakfasts the Kids Will Love

Everyone knows breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Yet, many families are guilty of skipping it due to a hectic school run or a lack of appetite. However, a nutritious meal each morning is essential for your children’s growth and focus at school.

To provide your family with the fuel they need to focus 100% of their attention on their studies or hobbies, check out the below quick and healthy breakfasts the kids will love.

Shakshuka

Shakshuka doesn’t take long to whip up and it can fill the kids right up. All you need is a cast iron to sauté the cayenne, cumin, onions, peppers, paprika, and olive oil, before pouring in tomato sauce and mixing in fresh parsley and oregano.

Once you have done so, make four wells in the mixture and crack in a couple of eggs. Next, allow it to bake in the oven until the eggs are cooked with a runny yolk. You should then serve it in a pan with sourdough.

Peanut Butter and Banana Toastie

It’s easy to make a piece of toast in the morning, as you can pop the bread into the toaster as you get ready for work or prep for the school run. Instead of lathering on butter, switch to peanut butter and banana, which is a healthy source of protein your son or daughter will adore. You could even sprinkle on chia seeds, which offer six times more calcium than a glass of milk. Your kids will be bursting with energy all morning long.

Avocado & Egg on Toast

If peanut butter and banana isn’t to your children’s taste, avocado and egg on toast might be right up their street. Simply add some smashed avocado onto two pieces of wholegrain toast, before sprinkling on some salt and pepper for flavour. Once you have done so, you should slide on sunny-side up eggs. Your kids will enjoy plenty of protein, which will serve them well until lunch.

Egg Breakfast Muffins

Do your children love a good muffin in the morning? Swap the sugar for protein and vegetables by making egg breakfast muffins. All you need to do is either whisk or blend eggs and combine them with spinach, peppers, bacon and cheese, before pouring the mixture into the muffin tins.

Bake the mixture for 15 to 20 minutes in the oven before serving. You could even store a few of the muffins in the refrigerator for a day or two for quick and healthy breakfasts on-the-go.

Microwavable Quiche

If your kids love quiche but you do not have time to make one, you might be happy to discover you can make one in the microwave. Simply place half a cup of spinach with water into a mug and microwave the mixture for one minute. Next, drain the water from the mug before adding in an egg, milk, bacon and cheese, which you must mix thoroughly. Once you have done so, turn on the microwave for three minutes before serving.

Fruit & Yoghurt Parfait

A fruit and yoghurt parfait is one of the best quick and healthy breakfasts you can make, and both kids and teens will gobble it up. The best part is you can make it suit their preference, as they can add difference yoghurt flavours and fruits to create the perfect breakfast.
